Do you believe it’s safe to eat Genetically modified foods?

There’s a lot of debate about this subject and I’d like to share my opinion as well as some facts.

The reason the use of genetically modified foods has gotten so high is to meet the demand of the public.  If we ate more local, and seasonally, there wouldn’t be such a demand for these foods.  If we ate less animal protein in general, there wouldn’t be such a high demand on feed for these animals.  So, I think we have to take a little responsibility for the widespread use of these foods.  With that said, when genetically modified foods were originally developed, they were not approved for human consumption, but only for animal feed.  There is solid science and research which shows when you genetically modify the protein of a food, it makes it more inflammatory and harder to digest, which is more likely to trigger an immune response.  The rates of allergies, asthma, eczema, irritable bowel disease and auto-immune diseases such as: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn’s , Lupus, Cushing’s and Thyroiditis have significantly increased over the past 30 years.  Even with the invention of expensive, invasive and highly toxic medications, these conditions are growing in prevalence, not decreasing.  Living a lifestyle that is highly toxic and inflammatory can disrupt the immune system function, which may eventually lead to many inflammatory symptoms associated with the above mentioned conditions.
