How To Fight Seasonal Allergies Naturally

By Dr Olivia Naturals Support • October 05, 2020

When the seasons change, many people turn to antihistamines to battle seasonal allergies. But these can cause you to feel groggy, experience brain fog, and make you feel sluggish. Worse, it can actually impair your body's own ability to keep allergies at bay. This often leads to dependency on unnatural solutions to get back to feeling normal.

The crazy thing is, your body has an amazing ability to heal itself. That’s why I recommend trying natural solutions over many other allergy-relief options. Not only do you sometimes experience a longer-term boost to your health, but you can stop allergies before they start by addressing the root cause.

So if you’ve been battling seasonal allergies, consider trying some natural home remedies instead!

Here are some of my favorite ways to soothe seasonal allergy symptoms.

Flush Out Allergens Using A Neti-Pot

One of the best ways to ease your allergies is by rinsing your nasal passages

Why? Because your nose is full of mucus membranes that often need to be cleansed. These membranes work to “catch” things before they enter your system. This is a vital bodily function that can prevent you from getting sick.

But sometimes, your mucus membranes fill up with too much “gunk” and it needs a cleaning out.

This is when I recommend you turn to a Neti-Pot. A neti-pot is a container designed specifically to help you clean your nasal passages and flush out mucus and allergens from your nose.

Pro tip: Add xylitol to your neti-pot to kill off excess bacteria and even kill mold (which is obviously very bad for your sinuses). Xylitol has been shown to have some extreme anti-microbial properties. That makes it great for anyone struggling with allergies.

This is a quick and inexpensive way to get some relief!

Try An Apple Cider Vinegar Shot

Apple cider vinegar may help boost your immune system and has been shown to break up mucus and support lymphatic drainage. I like to mix apple cider vinegar with water and lemon.

Now if you’ve ever had a shot of apple cider vinegar, you know it can be tough to swallow!

That’s why some people like to add a teaspoon of honey to take the edge off.

But it doesn’t just help your nose. In addition to the impact it can have on your lymphatic system, apple cider vinegar also helps promote gut health and good gut bacteria. This can actually lead to a better and healthier immune system, which can help you get relief from allergy issues faster.

Note: It should be raw apple cider vinegar. You can’t get these benefits to your immune system  and allergies from gummies.

Get More Quercetin In Your Diet

Quercetin has been called “the king of flavonoids” because of its powerful antioxidant properties and its ability to promote a healthy response to inflammation.

And this single ingredient can be an absolute game-changer in promoting a healthy response to allergies.

It’s a natural ingredient that can be found naturally in many foods including:

  • Red onions
  • Apples
  • Olive oil
  • Dark berries and grapes
  • Capers
  • Salad greens and culinary herbs, such as dill, cilantro, watercress, and radicchio.

Quercetin also can enhance the effectiveness of other nutrients you take. So if you’re taking it in combination with some other tips in this post, you may experience even more allergy relief.

Supplement Naturally

One of our most-loved products is our Hista-Aid.

It’s a blend of nutrients and botanical extracts designed to support a healthy immune response. It’s particularly powerful during times of seasonal upper respiratory challenges.

The key ingredient in this product, Tinofend®, is an extract from the plant Tinospora cordifolia, which has been used since the early 1900s in Ayurvedic medicine for its immune-modulating action. Tinofend® contains a complex of polysaccharides and polyphenols that has been shown to regulate key immune mediators and stimulate the activity of macrophages. These are specialized cells that are a primary part of the immune system.

It also contains three powerful ingredients — Vitamin C, Quercetin, and nettles. In combination, these ingredients can have powerful antioxidant benefits and help support the immune system — all naturally.
